Our Beginner Course will prepare you for working in a professional salon environment as a junior stylist. Previous experience in the hairdressing industry is not essential, all you need is lots of enthusiasm and a real interest in the profession. At the end of this course you can achieve a recognised National Vocational Qualification Level 2. This foundation certificate is awarded by City & Guilds.

Course Modules
9 units must be completed for a full NVQ.
Mandatory units
G20 Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
G17 Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
G7 Advice and consult clients
GH8 Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
GH9 Change hair colour
GH10 Style and finish hair
GH11 Set and dress hair
GH12 Cut hair using basic techniques
Plus 1 of the following optional units:
G4 Fulfil salon reception duties
G18 Promote additional services or products to clients
G8 Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
GH13 Plait and twist hair
GH14 Perm and neutralise hair
GH15 Attach hair to enhance a style
What does this course cover?
The course modules are delivered by dedicated, qualified NVQ Trainers/Assessors and include:
Formal assessments
Demonstrations and hands on workshops
Specialised workshops
Theory delivery
Projects
A home study CD
Practical workshops
Integration with other students in a salon environment
One to one tuition on a weekly basis
On successful completion of this course you will achieve a recognised NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing Qualification. This foundation certificate is awarded by City & Guilds.
What do I need to know before I start this course?
You will need a basic hairdressing kit (available to purchase from lookfantastic)
You will need 3 head blocks
A 25% registration fee is applicable (non-refundable). The remaining fee is to be paid 4 weeks prior to the course start date.
